Experiment One
The Emotions We Carry (2026)
Does this piece match your intended aesthetics?
It does in a way through the fact that it is in Black in White/Greyscale. It doesn’t because I had to change the bodies pose since I struggle with how to draw it. Instead of the character being hunched over, now they are leaning back or tilted from the weight of the box instead. I think it still works well to convey the weight of what they are carrying.
Does this piece work the way you intended?
Yes it does because it still conveys the gravity of holding onto dark or overwhelming emotions. And having the character titled/leaning and all the boxes on one side of the piece, it conveys unbalanced. It doesn’t work in a way because all the boxes are very uniform and clean looking. Some of the boxes could be worn out or torn. Or even the character could look more tired.
Experiment Two
The Emotions We Carry (2026)
Does this piece match your intended aesthetics?
It does in terms of looking different from version 1. By color and changes of boxes placement and box shapes. It doesn’t because I originally wanted every box to be a different shape but I like how this came out regardless.
Does this piece work the way you intended?
It works in terms of the box placement and the emotions on the boxes being more balanced compared to version 1. I think having both a mix of positive and negative emotions is much more balanced than the emotions being listed being overwhelming one sided.
